The Beckford team is now fully established with regular training sessions, brand new kit and new `wonder coach` Mr Hartley. During training sessions, we have been looking at the talent at our disposal and assigning positions. We have also been working on various skills and our level of fitness.
On the field, our results have been steadily improving and we are training hard to keep this momentum. We have had various other team coaches commenting on our high standard of sportsmanship and behaviour.
We will have to say goodbye to some of our current primary seven players but are looking forward to trialling new team players from the “new” primary sixes. Good luck.
¡Hola! In Spanish club we have been learning to ask and respond to questions such as ¿como éstas? and ¿como te llamas? We have been working hard to learn our numbers and have been using Spanish dancing to practise directions such as right, left, up and down.
The children have been playing a variety of team games to practise their colours and animals in Spanish such as Splat and Bingo.
The children designed beautiful ice cream cones, describing them to their peers in Spanish. Such great effort from all of the children who have been at Spanish club! Chess Club
Mr. Tighe runs a very successful after-school Chess Club throughout the year.
Different age groups are given the opportunity to learn and/or practise their chess skills with other keen Beckford pupils.
This year, 4 players were chosen by Mr. Tighe to represent Beckford in the Lanarkshire Schools Chess League competition: Joe Colville, David Thomson, Owen Grenfell and Jay Crossan. All boys performed exceptionally well on each of the competition days.

Bikeability Training takes place each year. Pupils in Primary 6 and Primary 7 learn how to control their bikes and to think about other road users. They learn about safe road habits and are encouraged to wear a helmet.
